Modria, co-founded by Colin Rule and Chittu Nagarajan, is based on the online dispute resolution systems they developed at eBay and PayPal. Modria was bought by Tyler Technologies in 2017. (You can view Modria’s pre-Tyler website on Archive.org.)
Currently, Tyler is deploying Modria for state courts. Here are some examples of where and how it is being used so far:
- Two Florida counties and a Texas county makes Modria available for small claims and debt collection cases. (Source.)
- The Los Angeles Superior Court (the largest court in the country), makes Modria available for parenting plans. (See above.)
- Nevada makes Modria available for divorces. (Source.)
- Counties in Louisiana (including New Orleans) (source) and North Carolina (source) make Modria available for property tax assessments.
